Bouquet is a French term meaning a certain arrangement of flowers. It is basically a type of designing and wrapping carried out with a bunch of flowers to serve as a gift-item on a special event.

Bouquet preparation is acknowledged as an art that requires patience and perseverance to learn and practice. Often known as floristry, bouquet preparation involves clustering leaves, stems, flowers etc in interesting designs.

Making a bouquet starts with the plucking and sorting of individual flowers, followed by cutting and grouping. Then the withered leaves are removed and a particular floral design is created, after which they are clustered and wrapped.

Each florist has his own unique design, which is dependant on the occasions the bouquets are meant for. The abundance (or dearth), as well as the market value of flowers in a specific season also plays a major role in formulating the design of the bouquet.

It is also noteworthy that the same type of flowers can assume contrasting meanings in some cultures in different parts of the globe. Therefore, a bouquet should be selected sensibly if you wish to present it to someone who belongs to another culture.

However, some flowers have the same significance in all cultures. For instance, if you love someone then irrespective of her cultural background, you can always present that person with red roses, as they symbolize love and passion and have the same meaning across cultures.

Bouquets have a very limited life span. The flowers tend to wither and die away, but you can keep them fresh a little longer by keeping them in vases full of water and hence increasing their life.

If you step into a florist's or a gift shop, you can find bouquets of different designs from which you can select the correct one for your purpose. You can also place orders for bouquets online as that can be more convenient when you are short of time.
