Growing plants can be a very difficult and time consuming process. A wooden greenhouse can help to reduce some of the variables involved in gardening. These houses give you a controlled, sheltered environment to grow your plants to your specifications.
Greenhouses have been used since the Roman era and have become a popular method for cultivating fragile plants. For example, many vegetables are weak and can only be grown during certain times of the year. A greenhouse provides a safe environment where that same plant can be grown year round.
The biggest advantage of having a greenhouse is the amount of temperature control you get over the plants. With a greenhouse, you can plant in the middle of winter and still have a seed germinate. Also, fragile plants like orchids or tulips will be able to survive the winter since they won't catch frost inside the house. This saves all your hard work because you will no longer have to replant your flowers in the spring.
Also you don't need to worry about sunlight levels inside of a greenhouse. You can just buy some UV lamps that simulate sunlight have grow your plants without any problems. This will in turn allow you have a wide variety of plants from different areas because you will be able to simulate the environment from each plant's native region.
Another great advantage you get in a greenhouse is exact control over your plants. You can make sure there is no cross pollination with other species or with weaker plants. If you are trying to breed a specific type of plant you have direct control of the pollination so you can breed plants by selecting the desirable traits.
If you are growing vegetables putting them in a greenhouse is a great way to go. Since you are cultivating them in a closed environment you don't need to worry about pesticides. There won't be any bugs to eat your hard work and you can grow the vegetables organically.
Humidity is very difficult to control in wooden greenhouses. The porous wood allows moisture to travel freely back and forth so you will have to keep an eye out for that. Fiberglass greenhouses could solve this problem but they are ridiculously expensive and may not be worth the cost.
